Privacy & submissions × On Your Block helps visitors discover businesses and lets business owners submit listing details or advertising enquiries. Descriptions come from business websites or owner submissions. Listings are reviewed before publication; being listed is not an endorsement.
We collect the business name, service city, category, optional website, optional public business address, description, business type, and a private contact email. You may also provide a public phone and email, service areas, services, languages, opening hours, full description, booking link, logo and photo URLs for your approved public profile. We use this information to review the submission, respond to enquiries, and prepare approved public listings. Your contact email is not included in public listing exports. Submission does not subscribe you to marketing or guarantee publication.
Private submission records are removed from our active submissions database by a daily cleanup after 90 days from submission. Approved public listing information remains until corrected or removed. You can request earlier access, correction, or deletion at privacy@onyourblock.ca . We may need to confirm you are authorised to change the business information. Provider backup copies follow the provider’s lifecycle.
Cloudflare hosts the site, stores submissions, and provides Turnstile spam protection. Google Fonts supplies the fonts. These providers may process connection and device information to deliver their services. We do not run advertising trackers or marketing subscriptions. On public production pages, Google Analytics runs only if you choose “Allow analytics”. Google receives cookie identifiers and visit/device information to measure page views. We exclude admin pages, submission fields, search queries, and referring URLs from Analytics. You can change your choice using Analytics preferences in the footer. Your choice is stored on your device for up to 180 days; declining keeps Google Analytics unloaded. Withdrawal stops future collection but does not erase data already sent. Google processes Analytics data under its own privacy policy; contact us for related privacy requests. If you request website help, we separately save the selected offer, requirements, business name, service city, contact email and optional phone, with your consent to follow up. We email that enquiry to the owner’s designated Gmail inbox via Cloudflare’s email service. Website enquiries do not place an order, make a payment or subscribe you to marketing. Active database lead records follow the same retention period as submissions. Email copies remain in the recipient’s mailbox until separately removed; contact privacy@onyourblock.ca for deletion requests covering those copies. Ownership claims collect your name, private contact email and explanation of your authority to represent a business. Please do not submit identity documents, passwords or sensitive personal records. Claims are checked manually using independently sourced business contact information; submission alone grants no badge or editing access. Claimants receive a private owner access code once. Only its hash is stored; after independent verification the code can submit proposed listing changes for admin approval. Codes expire after one year and can be revoked. Anyone with an active code can propose changes, so keep it private. Pending claims and amendment records follow the same retention period. Active access hashes remain until expiry or revocation and subsequent cleanup; deleting the private approved claim does not revoke access. Contact support to revoke access or submit a new claim if a code is lost. Owner amendments never publish automatically. Private claims are deleted after the same retention period as submissions. A public ownership verification date may remain until revoked. Public profile images are hosted by the business or its chosen image provider, which receives your browser connection when images load. Search runs in your browser. In local draft mode, a downloaded draft stays on your device and is not sent to us.
